Following changes to the requirements for the number of cases seen by pre-certificated CCABs applying for their viva assessment which were introduced last year, from October 2026 CCAB Certification Ltd will no longer be accepting applications from candidates whose case log is comprised entirely of remote cases.
Previously, candidates have been encouraged to see as many cases in person as possible to allow for a better understanding of the behaviour issues and the environment in which they arise but there has been no minimum requirement for in-person cases. From October 2026, any candidate applying for assessment of their clinical skills will be required to have seen at least one of each of the essential behaviour presentations in person. Additional cases for each presentation may have been seen either virtually or in person.
We continue to strive to uphold the high standards clients and pets expect when working with a Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist. If there are particular circumstances which mean that it is not appropriate for you to see cases in person, either for the purposes of assessment or for your future work, please contact info@ccab.uk to discuss your situation.
