CCAB Certification course validation was set up in response to a need expressed by both professionals and prospective students alike for better guidance on which of the many courses that are currently on offer in the UK meet CCAB’s requirements and is the result of wide-ranging consultation on how best to achieve this.
A course that has been formally validated through this scheme can be described as a ‘CCAB Certification Ltd Validated Course’ and can include the following in its publicity material: ‘This course has been formally validated by CCAB Certification Ltd as delivering the academic elements necessary to meet the knowledge and understanding requirements for CCAB (Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist) pre-certification.’ Individuals who graduate from such a course, with at least a 2.1 degree, will be recognised by the Committee as having fulfilled the academic requirements of CCAB certification and will be eligible for CCAB pre-certification status without mapping.
Course providers wishing to apply for validation are required to complete the following documentation:
Completed applications should be emailed to courses@ccab.uk .
The CCAB Accreditation Committee is a non-profit-making venture but is required to be economically self-supporting. Initial applications for validation incur a fee of £1500, which is non-refundable irrespective of the outcome. A renewal fee of £500 is due annually thereafter and courses are required to be revalidated every five years at a cost of £750.
We also validate individual units that applicants can use to meet specific area, or learning objectives in their CCAB application.
