CPD Requirements

CPD Requirements

CCABs need to demonstrate 30 hours of CPD, with reflection, per renewal period.

The CPD template can be found here. Please be mindful to complete all sections of the template, including the reflection.   Please take time to read our guidance on keeping CPD records and on undertaking reflection

If you are a veterinary professional and use the 1CPD app/online account, you can directly export your CPD log by following this guidance document.

If you are a veterinary specialist on one of the following registers, you do not need to evidence your CPD via the CCAB form, please state your specialist status in your CCAB renewal application and CCAB Certification can check your active status/CPD fulfilment via your specialist listing:

  • RCVS Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine (including species-specific)
  • EBVS European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine
  • DACVB Board Certified Veterinary Behaviourist (Diplomat)
  • ANZCVS Registered Veterinary Behaviour Specialist (Fellow of ANZCVS Veterinary Behaviour Chapter)

All CCABs (unless on the retired register) need to maintain their CPD. This is to ensure all CCABs in the industry are up to date with the latest developments in the field of behaviour.

If you have been unable to fulfil the CPD requirements due to extenuating circumstances, please send an email to renewals@ccab.uk outlining the reasons for this, so the committee can consider your renewal. Examples of extenuating circumstances that might be accepted include accident or illness which prevented you completing planned CPD.

If you wish to retire, please email info@ccab.uk with a request to be moved onto the retired register. You will no longer be required to complete CPD.

If you have been on the retired register for less than three years (from the date of your last renewal as an active CCAB) and wish to move back onto the active CCAB register, you will need to evidence completion of 30 hours of reflective CPD in the previous 12 months.

If you have been on the retired register for more than three years (from the date of your last renewal as an active CCAB) and wish to move back onto the active CCAB register, you will need to undergo full re-assessment (with associated fees).

Having completed your renewal payment, if you change your mind or have made a mistake, please contact us at renewals@ccab.uk within 14 days of payment, thank-you.
